About APAS

Introduction and Mission

The Automotive Platforms and Application Systems R&D Centre (APAS) was established under the R&D Centre Programme of the Innovation and Technology Commission and is hosted by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC).

APAS will be fully integrated under HKPC on 1 April 2025. The Centre continues to undertake market-led R&D programmes spanning green transportation, smart mobility, and intelligent systems, as well as commercialises R&D results in collaboration with industry, universities and technology institutes to enhance the competitiveness of Hong Kong’s automotive and other transportation sectors in new energy and smart driving

Vision

To become a leading automotive platforms and application systems R&D centre in the region and assist Hong Kong’s foundation industries to enter into or expand in the automotive market. The 4 major focus areas of APAS’ technology roadmap are –
(a) Green Transportation;
(b) Smart Mobility;
(c) Intelligent Systemsy; and
(d)Emerging Applications.

Mission

(a) Develop R&D competencies in selected core technical areas;
(b) Establish related networks in the Mainland and overseas;
(c) Collaborate with Mainland and overseas R&D partners;
(d) Promote R&D services and expand user base;
(e) Support HKSAR Government’s initiatives of smart city and new industrialisation.
